Headline results from the Census 2021 for disability and unpaid care is now available to download from the Census 2021 webpage. You can explore the data yourself on www.ons.gov.uk/census. The following are a few key points about Herefordshire:
- The Census 2021 was conducted during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which may have influenced how people perceived and rated their health and on how people perceived and undertook their provision of unpaid care
- Self-reported levels of general health were similar to the national picture and similar to 10 years ago - around 4 in 5 residents report good or very good health.
- A similar proportion as nationally who reported having any physical or mental health conditions or illnesses lasting or expected to last 12 months or more - 17% of residents[1]
- The number of residents aged 5 and over who provided unpaid care (17,000) was less than 10 years ago; probably as a result of the pandemic
